Does Sulfameth/trimethoprim For Sinusitis Cause Pins And Needles Sensation In Skin ?
i m taking sulfameth/trimethoprim for sinusitis (stuffy/achy ears, ringing in my ears). i ve finished 9 days of the antibiotic, and have 2 tabs left for tomorrow - but tonight i cannot sleep because i have a pins and needles feeling on different parts of my skin - hands, legs, cheeks, etc. i m not sure if it s a side effect of the drug? also, my symptoms in my ears have returned. i m so tired, but i cannot fall asleep because i m so uncomfortable.
Yes, these problems can happen in case of using sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim. I would suggest you stop the medication as this may increase the problems. In a day or two, your pins and needle sensation will be gone. As far as your sinusitis is concerned, there are other antibiotics that can be given in place of the one you are taking.
I would suggest you to not take antibiotics any more. Apart from antibiotics, your doctor must have given you other medications as well as an antihistamine and a nasal spray. After stopping the antibiotic, continue to use the other medicines for few more days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
