Does Swelling And Pain In The Bridge Of Nose Subside By Itself?

Hello, I was hit in the nose last night and the lower part of my nose (the thing that divides my two nostrils) hurts whenever I move my nose and when I touch it. When it happened I stuck my finger in my nose to see if it was bleeding and one of my nostrils seems smaller than the other. I was just wondering if this is something I should get checked out or if I can leave it and it will heal by itself.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to injury if there has been pain in nose as well as swelling and in case if one nostril seems seems to be smaller there is a possibility that there has been dislocation or displacement of nasal septum towards on one side..
There is also a possibility that one nostril is appearing smaller due to swelling..
I would however suggest you to consult an ENT surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case if there is only soft tissue injury anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, cool compresses and analgesic ointment can relieve.
In case of displacement of septum surgical correction has to be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
