Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dr gave me a prescription for Flexiril. I have lower back pain due to a bulging disk, and also have arthritis in my right hip and knee. I have rheumatoid arthritis also. I am a dialysis patient and also have an enlarged liver, from previous Hep C, but liver is stable now and Hep C is dormant. I have an ICD defibrillator and take Amiodorone, Metoprolol, Diltiazem, and Warafin. I am worried the Flexiril will affect my heartrate and maybe make my bp too low. I haven t filled the prescription yet. What do you think? Is it safe to take a muscle relaxant like this before bed if needed? I do have sleep apnea too but don t use a CPAP.
Since you have been diagnosed with cardiac rhythm abnormalities (arrhythmia), it is best to avoid Flexeril. If possible, Flexeril has potential to trigger cardiac arrhythmia.
Moreover, if you plan to use medications like Flexeril, it is important to treat sleep apnoea with CPAP. So, please be advised to follow up with your treating physician to discuss your concerns and the need for taking Flexeril.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
