Does Taking Metoprolol Without Prescription Cause Side Effects?

My 76 yr old husband mistakenly took 2 25 mg metoprolol tabs about 45 minutes ago. He has been on this med about 5 years rx d after MI and stents. He took 1/2 tab this am. His directions are 1/2 tab in AM & 1/2 tab PM. He is setting in recliner and denies any I ll feelings. I have no way to ck bp. Can I assume he is okay?nan

Hi Nan,

I understand your concern.

If your husband took a double dose of Metoprolol, nothing bad will happen to him. You can assume he is okay.

It would be good if you could check his bp. However, if he feels ok, and not unusual symptoms are reported, he is ok, don't worry.

Next time, try to keep his pills organized, so he won't forget and get mistaken anymore.
