Does Taking Trimethoprim During Pregnancy Cause Any Side Effect?
Hi! I have a question.. I am very hesitant on taking Trimethoprim 100mg tablets while being 6 months and two weeks pregnant. My OB doc who I see often for my pregnancy prescribed it but I am scared to take it. I have been taking antibiotics since day one due to having kidney stones and having infections. He told me that I need to take this medicine everyday to prevent future infections.
Hi I think you can take trimethoprim after 1st trimester. But you should consult a urologist for a second opinion on daily use of this. In my opinion if you have any urine infection, then only you need to take antibiotics. Get a urine routine and microscopy and culture done to see if there is any infection or not. Drink around 3 to 4 litres of water per day and take some urine alkaliser like syrup alkasol. Hope it helps.
