Does Taking Warfarin, Dutasteride, Lanoxin And Clarithromycin Cause Any Serious Drug Interactions?

a. I,am taking maintenance medication fo the following medicines; Warfarin 2.5 MWF 1.25 TTHS and Dutasteride 500mcg/400mcg once a day for my prostate issues, and Lanoxin half tablet of 250mcg . b. Five days ago, I was was with Clarithromycin (Calithrocid) 500 mg 2x a day as as per my doctor s prescription for a week,as treatment for possible underlying throat infection. c. My question is, are there any serious drug reactions in any medication I am taking in consideration with the new prescription, my doctor did not explain these to me, and I also miss the chance to ask. She is just a visiting (once a week)doctor and I could not reach her on her whenever I try to call her. Thank if you could give me some advice on this matter..

Hi,

There are a few serious interaction between some of the medications you are taking. Clarithromycin increases the effect of Warfarin, Lamoxin and Dutasteride so taking it together with these medications increases the risk for serious side effects especially with warfarin (risk of increased bleeding) and lanoxin (effects in the heart).

You will need to talk with your doctor on these possible serious side effects and if the doctor has to do some dose adjustments to avoid these side effects.
