Does Tapering Oxcarbazepine Dosage Cause Joint Pain?

I have been on oxcarbazepine for at least 10 years .I have been having some low sodium reports from my blood work each time. my doc suggested I try cutting back on my prescription and also since ui had not had another seizure since that first one which was a very bad one that put me in the hospital for a couple of days. I have cut my medication from 2 pills a day to one. they are 300 hundred m.I have been having some very bad jont or bone pains across my lower stomach and lots of stiffness in my upper legs. could this have anything to do with cutting back on this medication

Hello,

Oxcarbazepine can cause hyponatremia. A typical dose is 900–2400 mg/d.

Reducing dose of Oxcarbazepine has no link with your joint or bone pains.

However, you can go for serum calcium and serum 25(OH) Vit D level to rule out any factor of osteoporotic pain.
