56 year old male, never smoked, rarely drinks, 5'9" 167 lbs. cholesterol 253. Had recent exam,PSA is 8.0 blood sugar 85, BP 132/83 Concerned about the PSA level. Not painful to urinate, flow is good, prostate not enlarged. Have consumed much sugar with coffee and tea over several years. Family history of brain, lung, breast, but no colon or prostate cancer. PSA is Prostate Specific Antigen. It is secreted by malignant cells of prostate. Their increased value is associated with malignancy of cancer. But their velocity actually has much significance. If the velocity has much higher than chances of having prostate cancer is increases.
