Does The Choice Pill Result In Weight Gain And Stomach Bloating?

Hi! I am 30years old. I had to use next choice pill because of a condom break. Although it was right after my period finished, I had another period 3 days later. Since then, I gained weight too quickly. It is mostly on and around my stomach. I almost look like pregnant. I used pregnancy test twice. Both negative. I am very upset about this sudden weight gain. I gained 8 pounds. I am wondering whether there is some way to clean my body from this artificial hormone, which causes me to experience this awful stomach bloating. What should I eat/do? How can I help my body heal as soon as possible?

Hi,

Next choice is a hormonal contraceptive pill used as a emergency contraception. Due to the sudden increase in hormonal levels, side effects such as nausea, bloating, abdominal cramps and fluid retention can occur. Bloating and fluid retention is probably the cause of weight gain. These symptoms will reduce when the drug is entirely flushed out of your system which may take 2 to 3 days.You can take anti-foaming agents like Simethicone thrice a day after meals to reduce bloating. Adequate hydration to flush out the toxins is also essential.
