Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am at 30 year old women and trying for a baby. I have been advised by my doc to take duphaston from 20th day of my periods and continue for 10 days. My periods keep fluctuating from 28 days to 32 days. Will there be any side effects of the tablet? and want o know why is it prescribed to me. thanks in advance!
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Duphaston contains 'dydrogesterone', which is a synthetic progesterone. It is used to treat a variety of conditions resulting from a lack of endogenous (naturally produced) progesterone, including menstrual disorders and endometriosis. Most frequently reported side effects when taking Duphaston include: nausea, bloating, breast pain, irregular bleeding, dizziness, weight gain, skin rash and itch. However, not all persons taking the medication would experience all the above mentioned side effects. Also, most of these side effects can be treated symptomatically and would subside on its own over a period of time. Kindly take the medications as advised by your doctor. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
