Dog Scratch, Bleeding. Given Xprab Vaccination. Should I Continue The Dosage?

Hello Doctor, my pet dog made a scratch my 3 year old son's face with its nail while he was playing with him. There was little bleeding on his face. I have taken him to a clinic and doctor has given him Xprab vaccination dosage. Doctor said that this dosage has to continue for 5 times (1-3-7-14-28th day).
I would like to know, how can I confirm that it is a scratch or a dog bite.? because nobody was very near by while he was playing and he can't able to express also as he is very young. If it is a dog bite, then what are all the symtoms will be there.

hello dear
thanks for your query at hcm.

it's very difficult to determine wether it is a scratch or bite just by looking at injury. there is no test that would determine that . dog scratch or bite management will be similar with vaccination with same amount of dose.

For simple dog bite child will not have symptoms. Symptoms will develop if dog is rabies infected .Symptoms would be like very aggressive , fear of air and water . These are symptoms of rabies.

Hope I answered your query .
regards.
