Done Arthoscopic Knee Surgery. Have Cartilage Degeneration. Bruise Above Knee, Painful To Touch. What Is It?
I had arthoscopic surgery on my knee almost 8 weeks ago and am still in PT. I had my medial plica removed, and the surgeon also found that I have pretty intense cartilage degeneration, which he believes is genetic. I am an otherwise very healthy 28 year old runner/athlete and have been told my running is done.
I have been going through PT, and am still having a lot of trouble flexing my knee; it is nowhere near what my healthy leg is.
About 3 weeks into the therapy, I woke up one day and noticed a bruise and a divot right above my knee, just below my quad. It doesn't really hurt to touch. My therapist is now making me go back to my surgeon to see whats going on. I am impatient and my appointment it over a week away. Any idea what this could be?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The degeneration of the knee joint is responsible for the pain and swelling and the bruise. Knee joint lubricants supplementation is needed to reduce the pain and discomfort. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
