Done Breast Reduction Surgery. Have Fever. Worried About Infection

Hi, I had breast reduction surgery 3 days ago, and, last night, I began running a fever between 102 and 103 degrees Fahrenheit. I am very concerned about the possibility of infection but my plastic surgeon said she had no time to see me until next week. I'm not sure whether I should go to the emergency room, because I don't want to remove dressings or bandages in appropriately. What should I do?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Yes, there is possibility of infection.
So you better go to emergency room and get examined.
And also rule out other possible factors of fever.
After that with doctor's advice you can take systemic antibiotics and anti-pyretics which will help in decreasing the fever.
Once fever decreases you can follow your post-operative schedule.

increased temperature in post operative period could be due to infection. Post op day 3 wound dressing should be changed in a sterile method, better to get it done in hospital.
Get Total count and differential count blood test done.
You need to take antibiotic for infection.
Consult your doctor as soon as possible for examination and management.
