Done Emergency Appendectomy. Hurts To Pass Stools, Had Anal Fissure

I am 37 years old. I had to have an emergency appendectomy July 31. I have had consistent bowel removal problems ever since the surgery. It hurts to use the bathroom and I have had an anal fissure twice as a result. My quality of life is horrible because I am in pain from using the bathroom most of the majority of the time.

Hello, Welcome to HCM, I am Dr. Das

Look, the problem you are facing right now, is only due to constipation.

You should take some green leafy vegetables. Try to take some high fiber diet.

You should start a laxative agent before bed. it will improve your condition.

If the fissure makes any problem, you should apply some antibiotic ointment like Mupirocin.

Hope this will be helpful.

Regards.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. It has been over 6 months since you have had your appendectomy done. Complications of appendectomy may present with surgical wound infection or abscess formation but it does not appear from your symptoms that you are suffering from post-operative complications. However, you should get clinically examined and get all investigations done to remove any doubts. Contact and consult the treating doctor.

I feel that it is the anal fissure that is causing you restlessness. Use of laxatives like dulcolax with milk at bed time may be helpful for you, local application of bisacodyl furoate oitment can give you relief, you can take warm sitz bath twice- thrice a day.

However, get examined by a doctor to determine and assess the degree of fissure/haemorrhoids from which you are suffering so that you get treated appropriately. Neglect may worsen the anal fissures. Take care.
