Done Rhinoplasty. Pain In Nostril, Excessive Mucus. Normal Healing Or Infection?
Hello! I'm only ten days post rhinoplasty/septoplasty, I have been clearing the very end of my nose and nostrils with qtips, and applying my ointment/antibiotic cream. However I have developed an extreme stabbing pain in my nostril (not far up, just where I had been cleaning with the q-tips,) this nostril produces mucus more so now that the stinging has developed, are these signs of infection or just normal healing?
I have gone through your query regarding severe pain in nostril after 10 days of rhinoplasty operation. You have asked weather it is a sign of infection or healing ?
Since 10 days have pssed of operation therefore the recovery time is now over. After 10 days development of severe pain and mucous discharge indicates about infection.
To manage it you should take these precautions and treatment -
(a) Try to avoid nose pricking as to save nostril from infection.
(b) Antibiotic should be taken, preferably one which has gram positive , gram negative and anaerobic coverage.
(c) Anti inflammatory.
(d) Decongestant.
(e) Steam inhalation.
I hope this will help you.
Regards.
