Done Volvulus Repair. Pain Near Belly Button, Tender To Touch. Hernia Or Scar Tissue?

I am a healthy 31 y/o female with no real history of serious health issues. Last year, however, I had repair done on a volvulus and I have had nothing but problems since. Recently, (one week ago) I began to experience severe pain that was localize to the right of my belly button, tender to the touch, felt like a gnawing pain perhaps? After a week of deal with this, my PCP told me it could be an ulcer. I was not so sure so I called on my Gastroenterologist and he suggested a CT scan along with two possibilities: 1. Hernia (due to the protrusion on my abdomen between my belly button and sternum; and also 2. Scar tissue which is interfering with the normal process of the digestive system. I'm slightly worried as this isn't my first dealing with stomach issues. Given the possible theories, which would you say are more likely?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The CT scan of the abdomen has given two possibilities:
1. One is that of a hernia
2. Second is that of scar tissue formed due to previous surgical procedure

Both the conditions can produce similar symptoms i.e. pain, and obstruction.
If severe they can even produce ischemia and gangrene of the affected bowel loop.
Ischemia occurs when the blood supply to a particular part of the intestine is cut off.
It is best to consult your gastrosurgeon.
A surgery is required before any complication develops.
The exact cause of the symptoms will be known once the abdomen is opened.

Thanks and take care
