ESR stands for erythrocyte sedimentation rate which measures how much inflammation is in the body. In Women over 50 years old it should be less than 30 mm/hr. It is elevated in your Mother which suggests she has a internal Joint Inflammation due to osteoarthritis. Kindly get her evaluated further by her Orthopedist.
