Ear Tube Fallen Out, Infection Stops On Putting It In. Multiple Surgeries Required?

Is is normal for ear tubes to fall out after 9 months and for the child to need multiple ear tube surgeries. My daughter has has ear tubes put in 3 times already and may need them put in a 4th time. Once they are in her ear infections disappear but once they fall out they return. This last time the doctor indicated that the ear infection pushed the tube out. Is this common? How many more times will she need to have surgery?

hello, yes you are right, ear tubes fall out after 6-9 months.your daughter is having a condition called glue ear-in this disease thick mucoid fluid collects in the middle ear.this disease can recur after the tube falls out, multiple tube placements may be required.ask your doctor to place a T tube.this stays in the middle ear for a longer period.if your daughter is having enlarged adenoids, they need to be treated.allergies and nasal/sinus infections should be treated if they are present. middle ear infections push the tube out.your doctor is right.i hope your daughter gets better. dr praveen.
