Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for writing to us If you are able to do your regular activities with your limb without much pain then a bone injury is unlikely. You need to continue with rest .Hot fomatation will be helpful to decrease the stiffness. Most of the times it is a soft tissue injury but it takes at least 10-14 days for the pain to subside. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Most propably you could have suffered a soft tissuecontusion possibly involving the muscles. So the pain typically occurs during movements of the inflammed muscles. This is usually self limiting and recovers spontaneously with the following measures
* Give rest to the injured part and avoid activities causing pain * use analgesic medications as needed * Do ice packing over the painful areas once in 2 hours * Moist heat application may resolve the stiffness
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
