Sir., I AM A PATIENT OF EPILEPSY ,SINCE MY 10yrs. AT THE AGE OF 20-31. NOW,MY AGE IS 31,STILL I AM TAKING REGULARLY ONE MAZETOL-200 IN THE NIGHT NOW,I WANT TO KNOW WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF ALL THESE TABLETS. does due to this tablets i cannot become father naturally. Does it effect Sperm count..........................Please tell me i married now from 2 yr i am waiting to become father. THANKS,
I understand you are taking MAZETOL-200 (Carbamazepine).
Men with epilepsy often have fertility problems, which can be worsened by drugs used to prevent the seizures. If fertility problems emerge in men with treated epilepsy, semen analysis should be conducted and if abnormalities are found, alternative drug treatment should be considered.
The anti-epileptic drug carbamazepine was tied to significantly lower levels of testosterone. I suggest you get sperm analysis done. The effects due to carbamazepine are reversible after stopping medication. If necessary, you may be put on any other anti epileptic drugs.
