Experiencing Flushing In Whole Body, Have Hypertension. Can Calcium Blocker Be The Reason Behind It?
I have been experiencing flushing that starts on my forearms from the elbow down(does blanch, not blotchy) it will progress to the mid upper arm, then my legs from the knees down, my ears, my face. My forearms for instance will be burning hot but from the wrist to the fingertips looks normal and my hands are freezing cold. I do have hypertension which I take a beta blocker and a calcium channel blocker for. My mother has been a critical care nurse for 23 yrs and thinks it could be the calcium channel blocker. Haven t gotten it checked out just yet, just searching for some clues first. Thanks for your help.
Yes, Calcium channel blockers like verapamil and diltiazem have the big side effect of causing flushing which is the main side effect. To prevent this, you can change your medication to an alpha blocker or a beta blocker which have less severe side effected. To do this please consult a cardiologist who will be able to tell you the reason for getting the vasodilation and also be able to cure you and treat you better. Hope this helps.
