Experiencing Hot Flashes, Nausea, Loss Of Apetite, Increased Heart Beat. Reason?
Good Morning. I am experiencing hot flashes for about a month now. I get very nauseous and loss of appetite almost all day until about 3pm. The funny thing is my hot flashes are unexpected and when they come, it last for about 15 minutes and then I am back to normal. This morning out of nowhere I was brushing my teeth , the I started to feel weird, I felt like I could not breath, my heart was raising, I waited and I could not hold it. I threw up. What can this be?
Hello,
Your symptoms would suggest
(1) a thyroid abnormality, usually hyperthyroidism where you get these hot flushes, fast heat beats and an overwhelming fatigue - this can be checked with a blood test for TSH, fT4 levels;
or (2) you are entering menopause (presuming female aged 45+) or pre-menopausal - this can be checked with FSH, LH levels. If these are high, then the diagnosis is clear.
(3) Also you need to get your Blood pressure checked, and blood tests would include a complete hemogram and a randon blod glucose.
(4) an occult infection - if you have fever, please get in touch with your doctor.
Please get back to us if you have any other questions.
Best Wishes.
