hi. i have been experience palpitation, random pain in my left side of chest. went to cardiologist, gave me 25mg atenolo to be taken as needed.I also have gerd. its been months but no improvement. ive been losing weight. and always lying down, because when i try to be active i experience shortness of breath. im afraid. ecg is normal, though, 2d exho reveals, mitral valve prolapse. my doctor says ill be ok and not worry about it, but im afraid. i want to be normal again and be active please help.
HI Thank for asking to HCM You have two queries, and I can really understand your concern, first I will advise you for GERD the proton pump inhibitor is the only possible treatment for this and omeprazole is the drug of choice 40 mg just single dose at evening time for six week, now for mitral prolapse there is no medicine which could repair the mitral prolapse only mitral valve replacement is the way, but that prolapse will not affect the over all your health, hope this will help you in making decision have nice day.
