Extreme Anxiety, Bad Cough, BP Issues, Dizziness. Taking Lisinopril, Cozaar, Norvasc. Suggest?
I have been taking lisinopril for 5 years, recently taken off and put on cozaar. I have had extreme anxiety , and my cough was just as bad. Now i am being changed to norvasc , which seems like it will be the same as cozaar. I had a by pass 4 years ago. Nothing seems to keep my blood pressure regulated, but i am wanting to get off this medicine merry go round. Do you think it would be best to go back on lisinopril, since the cough is nothing compared to extreme anxiety, and dizziness .
Any medication one takes has the potential for side-effects, the art of pharmacology is to achieve treatment goal with a tolerable side-effect profile. Very few people treated for hypertension achieve the treatment goal ( BP < 140/85) on a single drug and therefore a combination is needed. So it not a question of always stopping one drug and starting another but often adding a drug until the goal is reached . You are the only one who can decide whether a side-effect is tolerable or not, you must work with your doctor to find this balance as it is very important , especially in light of your previous bypass surgery.
