Extreme Burning Sensation In Bilateral Lower Extremities, Numbness In Fingers On Sitting, Weakness In Legs On Getting Up. Negative Blood Tests, Normal Hgb. Prescribed FeSO4. Suggestion?
FEMALE 46 YRS OLD HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING INCREASE IN EXTREME BURNING SENSATION TO BILATERAL LOWER EXTREMITIES AS WELL AS NUMBNESS TO FINGERS AND WHEN SEATED FOR A SHORT PERIOD UPON GETTING UP HAVE FEELING OF WEAKNESS RUSH FROM KNEE TO LEGS THAT WILL MAKE ME STUMP MY LEGS TO PROMOTE CIRCULATION. BLOOD TESTS NEGATIVE. HGB 11.5, MY DOCTOR RXs FESO4. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST. HAD HX OF TAH AND STOPPED ESTROGEN YRS BACK.
I understand your concern. Normal hemoglobin levels range from 11.5 mg/dL to 17.5 mg/dL depending on gender. 11.5 isn't dangerous, though it is a bit lower than the average. You may try taking an iron supplement and try eating more red meat and vegies. Regarding your symptoms, my suggestion is to take vitamin B supplements. Because anemia and burning sensations in extremeties can be also caused by this defficiency. Visit your GP and discuss with him which sort of supplements is the best to you, orally taken or by injection.
I hope this asnwer was helpful to you.
