Facial Swelling, Itching, Rashes On Face After Using Eye Gel Refresh Liquigel. On Benedryl. No Pain. Help

Facial swelling. I think it could be due to the eye gel-Refresh Liquigel, from the opthalmologist. Used only one night and the following morning, the itching started and around 7:30pm I took one benadryl tablet and noticed it got worst eyelid swell. Area around upper lip felt swollen. Around the whole face is rash. Emergency dr. told me to take one more benadryl so when we got home at 10pm, I did and went to bed. I woke up at 4am and it gotten worse. The swelling and puffiness on my eyelids and all over my face. Should I go back to emergency? Dr. said to go back should it get worse. It itches, no pain, only on my face. Pease help!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Dear friend,

Thanks for posting your query on this website. I can fully appreciate your concern for problem.

From the sequence of events, it is a case of severe allergic reaction. Take Inj. XXXX 100mg every 8 hourly for 24-48 hours. Once the swelling starts reducing, switch over to Tab XXXX (5mg) 2 tablets thrice daily for one day; then, 2 tabs twice daily for one day; then, 2 tablets once a day for another 2-3 days till the rashes disappear completely.

I am confident that you will certainly benefit from the advice.

May I assure you that I am always available for your assistance and will try my best to cure your condition to the best of my experience and knowledge.

Please feel free to revert back to me in case of further clarifications, if any.

HAVE A NICE DAY AND A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

Fond Regards,

Dr.(Col) R Karanwal
