Failed Attempts To Have Sex Due To Severe Pain. No Penetration Beyond Hymen Is Done. Advice
Good day doctor Grief, I'm 23 years old and married. Been trying to have sex with my husband since we got married in august last year to no avail. It's quite painful and sometimes, it feels I can't bear the pain anymore. We've been at the entrance of the hymen and not been able to go any further. I really love my husband and I want to be able to satisfy him. Pls help
Vaginismus is a condition that affects a woman's ability to engage in sexual intercourse. It is characterised by painful penetration during intercourse, use of tampons, pelvic examinations and is due to spasm/contraction of a muscle called pubococcygeus. It is not under your conscious control.
There are a number of potential causes.
The main type of treatment is behavior sexual oriented therapy. This is involves education about the condition and its development, the use of vaginal dilators at home.
You should consider visiting your gynecologist who may be able to treat or may refer you to a sexual therapist.
I hope this helps
