Fat Lump Around Left Collarbone. Suggested To Remove By One Doctor, And No By Other. Opinion?

Hello! I have a fat lump around my left collarbone. I've had it for 15 years. It's quite big and I would like to remove it. I've asked 2 plastic surgeons who told me they don't want to take the risk to remove it because in this area there are lymphs and glands. Today I saw a doctor who said it's very easy to remove it. What is your opinion?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Generally, Lipomas (fat lumps) are benign in nature and doesn't need any treatment except for cosmetic purposes.

The risks involved in excising the mass depends on the site of lesion and complexity of the surrounding tissues like blood vessels, nerves and other vital structures. Also, the skill of the surgeon plays a major role in the outcome after surgery.

So, you have to decide whether to go for surgery or stay back.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
