Fell And Was Diagnosed With Contusion Below Kneecap, Took Ibuprofen. Have Swelling, Feverish And Pain. Normal?
I fell two weeks ago and was diagnosed with a large contusion right below my left kneecap. It actually looked like a second larger kneecap. I iced it consistently for four days and took 800mg of ibuprofen 3 times daily. This did help the swelling to go down significantly. However, on the fifth day, one week ago, the swelling came back up and within the past 3 days it has become more swollen, feverish, and more painful. Is this normal or do I need to seek further treatment?
Dear sir .. You have not mentioned your age and your diabetic status. I feel the wound must have got infected leading to an abscess , thats why you are getting fever . Hence you need a course of antiboitics If there is an abscess is formed it may need a surgical drainage.Hence you should consult an orthpaedician or general surgeon.
