Fell On Tail Bone, Extreme Pain. Could I Have Possibly Broken Tail Bone?

Hello, I fell on my tail bone about 3 nights ago - the pain wasn t too terrible at the time however I woke up the next day and could barely roll over. any kind of movement where I have to tense my muscles around the area make my tail bone hurt extremely bad. getting up from sitting down is terrible - it takes me a few minutes to be able to get up before the pain calms down a bit. Today I have noticed bad pain in the top of my left thigh and hip - it is causing me to walk with a bit of a limp. The pain isn t too bad when I am just standing up but every time I sit down, or try to sand up after sitting it is terrible. Sneezing and coughing are also causing extreme pain. Could I have possibly broken my tail bone - should I see a doctor or can all of these symptoms just be caused from a bruised talk bone?

Hi and thanks for this query.
I amso sorry to hear about what happened to you and the pains you have.

From the information you have provided, the chances of having broken your tail bone are minimal. Unless it is a violent shock, this bone piece is very compact and fractures rare unless in extreme cases of violent shock. A simple fall would most of the times not cause this unless there are other diseases you have not mentioned.

I will suggest that you take pain medications, rest and avoid postures/position/lifestyle practices that provoke or aggravate this pain. if the symptoms should persist or worsen, then I will suggest that you get consulted and evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you for using our services and do feel free to ask more questions if need be.
Thanks
