Hi,
gd mng.My daughter is 3 months old & is having fits like tendencies for the last two months.Her brain scan & EEG
was normal.Doc suggested to gave her gardinal syrup 2.5 mlX2 times a day.another doc suggested to gave her
epilex syrup as according to him gardinal having side effects.Please advice which is a safer medicine for fits of
infants....

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern. At the outset let me tell you that all medicines have some or the other side effect. Both Gardinal and Epilex are safe. However I will refrain from giving the medicine for "fit like tendencies". It shall be better to first confirm the cause and then give the medicine.

Has serum ionic calcium level been done? Low levels can also be a cause of convulsions in an infant.
