Flaky Scab On The Top Of Head, Not Itchy, Has Been Constant Since Weeks. What Could It Be?

i have this one small spot on the top of my head its sort of a flakey scab, is how I would describe it. it doesn t itch , or hurt but I know its there, I don t bother it but it has gone away and its been about three weeks. I remember having this once when I was a young teen but I don t remember when it went away or how, and I know that I kept scratching it away then but it still remained forever I felt.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Concerned.,

Thanks for writing to us.

Flaking scabs on scalp could be due to seborrhoeic dermatitis / simply called Dandruff.
It can get infected with fungus also . Anti fungal Shampoos such as Nisoral can be very helpful.

If you have already treated Dandruff and it is long standing kindly consult a Dermatologist.
There is a remote possibility of Psoariasis which initially may present as intractable case of Dandruff.

Get well soon.
Dr Lt Cdr ASN Bhushan.
