Floating Stools, Constipation, Cramps, Burning Stomach, Gurgling

Hi there, I ve been having some digestive issues for quite some time and I was wondering if you could help give me some answers. Firstly, in 2008 I started getting hives , they ve since been chronic. More recently, I ve had problems going to the washroom, sometimes Im constipated, other times it s very loose. When Im constipated I feel really lethargic and have mild cramping. In the past two weeks I ve been having burning in my stomach follwed by moderate pain and hardness. I also experience loud gurggling. It s also painful to touch just below my diaphragm. I also get very tired after eating and a little nauseated. I forgot to mention that I also exerience floating stools now and again.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of alternating constipation and loose stools, pain in abdomen, feeling lethargic and so on.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
First of all consult your Doctor for clinical examination and referral to a General Surgeon so that a proper clinical diagnosis can be done after relevant investigations like :
CT scan of abdomen.
Colonoscopy.
Tests of stool and blood.
All this will help to rule out cancer of large intestine.
If this is no cancer then there may be another cause for the symptoms which can be detected as discussed above so that a specific treatment can be done as per the findings.
Take symptomatic treatment for lethargy and pain in abdomen/
If all the investigations are within normal limits then this can be treated like IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
