Flu, Bad Pain In One Ear, Ear Pain While Swallowing. Is It Ear Infection?
I had the flu last week and had a really bad pain in one ear which has still not gone away. I have no other symptoms left apart from the ear pain in one ear which is worse when I swallow but seems to be getting worse...I have taken sedated but not making much difference. It is hard to sleep as seems to be worse at night. Do you think this an ear infection? thanks. Sudafed* sorry
Hi,
After respiratory infections, sometimes there is fluid collection in the middle ear and this leads to pain in the ear. As you have pain while you swallow, you could also be suffering from tonsil infection as well as a block of Eustachian tube. You should try the Valsalva procedure- blowing your nose hard with pinching your nostrils and this causes air entry into the blocked Eustachian tube. Consult an ENT specialist for examination and further management. Good luck.
