Flu, Chest Tightness, Cough With Chills And Fever. Nose Test Negative. Doctor Gave Z Pack Steroid For Bronchitis. Advise?

I went to the dr 4 days ago, thought and felt like I had the flu. Chest tightness, cough, chills, fever, eyes watery, so miserable. Nose test came back negative and the dr said I had bronchitis. Gave me a steroid shot, z pack, steroid pack, and benzonatate 100mlg 3x daily. My cough is so bad, throat feels like its been thru a meat grinder RAW, chest hurts from coughing so much. I'm so miserable. Need advice please

Hello dear,

1. z pack (pharmacologically Azithromycin) is an anti biotic targeted against the causative organism.
2. steroid pack- has anti inflammatory property
3. benzonatate- is an anti tussive preparation (cough suppressant)

So, the medications as prescribed by your Doctor are correct.
Since you are not getting relief, it indicates that the infectious agent may be resistant to the antibiotics.
Under such circumstances, change of antibiotic is needed based on culture & sensitivity report.
Investigations like complete blood count & X ray of chest will be helpful.
