Fluctuating Sugar Levels After Coming Off Glucophage Is Dangerous?
Hi, I am a type 2 diabetic and was recently admitted into hospital with severe lactic acidosis. My Dr took me off glucophage and put me on to Amaryl (2mg tablet). Since this incendent my sugars have not stablised. They are ranging daily between 11,13,14 - 19. Please advise is this is dangerous as I am feeling very tired and want to sleep all the time.

your doc did the best thing by stopping glucophage,because it will worsen the lactic acidosis.
certainly uncontrolled diabetes will make you prone for diabetes related complications.
pts with similar kind of fluctuations in my clinic I started them on insulin and once they stabilized I use to shift to Amaryl
I suggest you to discuss with your doctor to consider starting insulin for quick stabilization of blood sugars.
