For 5 Months Old Mothers Milk Would Not Be Sufficient. What Else Can Be Given?
My baby is 5 months old. Mothers milk would not be sufficient sometimes. What is the best thing can top the gap? Some body suggested to give cow's milk and others prefer to have Dexolac Milk powder. Which one is more suitable for my baby and why not others? Please give reason. I am a Physiotherapist, so I can understand medical terminologies too, if you would feel comfortable to explain me. Thanks in advance.
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. I suggest you to give the child exclusive breast feeds till the age of 6 months. If the child is gaining weight appropriately, passing urine 6-8 times per day, and sleeping comfortably, then the breast milk is sufficient. If the child is not gaining weight and really breast milk is inadequate, then you can think of giving formula milk like Dexolac as per the instructions with the advise of pediatrician. I don't recommend cow's milk below the age of 1 year as the infants develop allergy, indigestion, colic, and other gastrointestinal problems with cow's milk. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
