Fractured Pinkie Finger, Color Back After Taking Heparin. Skin On Inside Of Finger Looks Peeled. Is It Ok ?

My son fractured his pinkie finger, and we thought it was going to be amputated. The color came back after days on heparin. Now the skin on the inside of his finger looks like it wants to peel. The very tip of his finger has a dark bruise that hasn't gone away. Is all this normal?
The doctor said that he could keep his finger and sent us home after six days in the hospital, and told us the vascular damage needed about three weeks to heel.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

If you are able to see the capillary filling in the nail beds of fingers, it implies that blood supply in the finger is normal.

Peeling of the skin and presence of dark bruise will go away over a period of time during the healing process.

Advised active finger joint movements to prevent the development of contractures.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
