Fractured Tibia, Numbness In Heel, Cold Foot. Suggestions?
Hi, i fractured my tibia a few days ago, and have have numbness in my heel ever since. i am in a leg splint, and notice that the numbness decreases when i loosen the splint. However, the numb sensation doesn't completely go away. As well, my foot is constantly cold. The orthopedic surgeon in the ER said this was normal, but i have just phoned telehealth and they have advised me to return to the hospital. Not sure if this is something that typically goes away with time, or it it is in fact an emergency...
Hi,
I thinks its not normal at all beause you are having cold sesnations and numbness.
I think your leg splint is too tight due to which blood supply restricts and causes numb foot.Recommendations:Try to do some anke pumps (moving your ankle towards your self and away from you in long sitting position),Elevate your foot to prevent swelling,Dont allow weight bearing on that foot,Cheak your medications for side effects, go for physiotherapy if posssible.
hope this helps!!
