Frequent Vomiting, Diarrhea, Chills And Body Aches. History Of Having Potato Soup For Lunch. Food Poisoning?

My saon had potatoe soup for lunch.A couple hours later he started feeling ill. He has been vomiting, with diarrhea, chills and body aches since about 3:00. He is a young adult, and I think he has food poisoning. My advise to him is teo make sure he stays hydrated with clear liguids, drinking slowly and him riding it out.
My concern is he says the vomiting is not slowing down as far as amount or frequency. Do we watch and wait, or insist he go to an ER?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Gastrointestinal infection due to food poisoning is the most probable reason of your sons symptoms. Diarrhea, vomiting, chills and fever indicates it. Dont know how old is your son, but generally young patients has lower tolerance to dehydration so he can not take as much of vomiting as adult. And dehydration can lead to kidneys failure what is very serious condition.
Main symptoms of dehydration are low urine amount, dry mouth, weakness.
As vomiting and diarrhea do not getting better, I suggest you to visit ER.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
