Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, feels Something Stuck In Throat After Eating
Why do I constantly clear my throat after I eat? Some days are worse than others, but it s just over and over for 30-45 minutes or so. I have GERDs (I take Nexium in the AM for it), but there s no burning I get with a reflux attack, so I think it s something else. Are there food triggers? For lunch today it was a Dr Pepper , Subway sandwich, and a bag of baked chips.
This feeling of something stuck in your throat warrants an upper GI endoscopy especially because you have been on treatment for GERD. Long term GERD can lead to stricture formation and difficulty in swallowing. I dont mean to alarm you but you should consult your doctor immediately and have him schedule an endoscopy for you.
Also you should try and improve your diet - Dr. pepper and baked chips are going to make your GERD worsen. You should avoid aerated drinks, spicy food and mint.
Hope you get well soon.
