Gets Chilled Easily, Is On Thyroid Medication. Should The Dosage Be Changed ?
My father has worn long underwear in the summer for years now. He is 79. He gets chilled easily. He's been on thyroid medication for a long time but a very low dose that's never been changed....................1 mg. I believe..........or.5mg.
Should it be increased or should we look into another area for the cause.
Your father is Hypothyroid and taking Thyroxine supplementation and feeling excessive chills, then possible reasons could be inadequate control of thyroid, infection, old age and loss of subcutaneous fat.
His dose is not adjusted for very long time so you may want to check the status of his thyroid function.
You should visit Physician after good clinical examination his relevant investigations including complete blood count, Thyroid function test (T3,T4,& TSH) may be done. Further course of action depends on result of the tests. Hope this helps. Take care. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
