Given Amoxicillan And Vicadin For Fever, Cold And Earache. Not Able To Hear Properly. Is There Any Home Remedy For This?
Had a fever, congestion, like a cold & then a severe earache. Very much pain. Went to an outpatient clinic where they gave me vicadin & amoxicillan. Still having a hard time hearing, like in a tunnel & people have to look at me to speak to me so I am able to hear them. Never before have I had this. I am 29 years old. Feeling better with fever but still cannot hear well. What causes this? Outpatient clinic says if I still can't hear by Wednesday, to come back in. What can I do at home to remedy this?????
You seem to be suffering from an Eustachian tube dysfunction or an infection in the middle ear which has caused this block since this is an acute problem.
You are on the right track though in getting the antibiotic and antihistamine medication and you must continue that. In addition to that you can do these:
1. take steam inhalation with menthol at least two to three times in a day for a week or two
2. Hold your nose and mouth and swallow and do this maneuver at least twenty times in a day for a week or two
3. wait for a couple of weeks and take an audiometer testing along with impedance and get back to me with the report
Hope this helps and hope you get better
