Got Hit In The Head. Having Pain. How To Reduce It?

I got hit in the head earlier tonight about an hour ago, my left portion of my head is in a lot of pain and it hurts to open close my mouth and bite down. I ve had ice on it for te past 20 minutes, but the pain is just increasing. Is it something serious? Or should i wait until tomorrow morning to have it checked by a doctor and see if the pain goes down?

Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

At first the ice pack is a good idea. You should also notice for neuro ictus, signs like: vomiting, loss of consciousness, nausea, hearing loss, seizures, severe headaches, problems in vision, etc. As you have not mentioned any of these, there is no immediate risk.

But, in most cases with head injury we also like to rule out the worst by advising a CT scan of the head. This would be advisable at the earliest. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Also, refrain from using pain management drugs as of now, as these could make the condition worse (in case of an internal injury).

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
