Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Your daughter is taking montelukast for more than 1 year, first why she was prescribed this drug, most commonly due to allergic nasal or bronchial. This is a leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) used for the maintenance treatment of asthma and to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies
She is competitive swimmer, is she asthmatic ? or have allergy problem.
This drug can cause weakness and as you can notice from declining performance.
Please consult your Physician about absolute necessity of this drug to be continued,if not she can be switched to some other drug.He/She should also examine her for presence of any other cause as we should not miss anything.
If required relevant investigations may be undertaken to make sure nothing is missed.
Please take care of her diet and physical fitness, I am sure she will do well and let her continue with sport if she is medically and physically fit.
Take care
Good Luck
