Had Acanthosis Nigricans Since Childhood. Cure?
Hi, My name is Hernan Cortes & I had Acanthosis Nigricans since i was 8 yrs old, but now I m 15 & My question is that How can I get rid of it as soon as possible because I ve been teased a lot about it. I know that its a sign that probably I could get diabetes which I hope not & I have to eat healthy & not eat junk in order to get rid of them, but can you give me any advice, so that I won t be tempted to eat junk food ?

A N is either idiopathic or secondary to any disease. In your case if no cause is found then consider it idiopathic , means causeless. Apply salysalic acid oint. at night and alovera +vit E cream in morning. Wash the area with face wash containg glycolic acid.

Most common form of acanthosis is associated with obesity called pseudo acanthosis nigricans.
In other cases it is related to medical disorders or heriditory
If it is related to obesity, it improves with weight reduction
If medical cause is found and treated, it improves
you can apply pigmentation reduction creams, hydroquinone, tretinoin, glycolic acid,or chemical peels after prescription of dermatologist depending on the area involved,
A thorough systemic work up is advised to rule out medical cause
