Had TIA. Taking Metoprolol, Amplodipine. High BP Reading. Can This Wait?
66 white male. Had TIA 3/22/12, then a Lacunar early morning 3/23/12. After returning to work, I evidently had another TIA as I wasn't making sense to my co-workers, and wasn't sure where I was or supposed to be doing. They sent me home (learned later, they should've called 911). I had NOT been taking my B/P medication because the Rx expired, and I couldn't take the time off for all the tests, etc. 5'10 180# and now taking Metoprolol ER Succinate 50mg each morning, Amlopidine Besylate 2.5mg at bedtime along with a 325 aspirin. B/P still reads rather high but I don't see the Dr. again until July. Should I call for an earlier appt. or is this something that can wait?
Welcome to HCM.It would be prudent to ask for a earlier appointment if the blood pressure readings are high despite the medication. This is as you have had cerebrovascular accident in the past due to the hypertension. This needs to be prevented and a review /increase/change in the antihypertensive drugs would help,it would be best to do so at the earliest occasion.
