Had UTI. Renal Sonogram, Blood Work Done. Can Abdominal Infection And Ebv Cause Change In Labs?
I had a very bad u.t.i my doctor ordered a renal sonogram which showed enlarged spleen14.5 . In10 days I went to my g.i.doctor who ordered an abdominal sono everything was okay spleen had gone down to 13. 0. The my blood work came back neutrophils 29 lymphocytes 54 and absolute neutrophils 1218 which was 2500 on 3/29. I also had a esophagogastroduodenoscopy done 6/11 which show erosive gastritis ,erosive duodenitis waiting on biopsy results. My question can abdominal infection and ebv cause change in labs
Hi, Yes, abdominal infection and ebv will alter blood reports if you are looking if your UTI has resolved. It may give False positive result. You can go for Urine routine and microscopy.
