Had A Transesophageal Echocardiogram. Do Localized Edema, Seen On Palate, Uvula And Tonsil. Painful. Problem?

I had a Transesophageal echocardiogram four days ago. I do have some localized edema that can be clearly be seen on the soft palate, uvula and left side of tonsil, but I am more concerned about neck pain just below the cricoid cartilage and to the left of the cricoid and thyroid cartilages. This pain occurs with palpation of the area and also occurs without palpation as I turn my head to the left. It is most severe when I turn my head to the left as far as it will go. I had a complicated procedure and they maxed me out on Demerol and midazolam, neither of which worked until after the procedure. I was told that I cried and moaned the entire hour the scope was in my throat and that I fought the tube by gagging on it the entire time they were in there. Doctor says to call my primary if its not better in a few days but I'm seeing him first thing tomorrow because pain is severe. Cardio doesn't seem to worry if I'm not bleeding but I'm concerned because I'm much worse. What might this be? Should I be concerned?

Hi, it appears that you are scared of the procedure, and the tube might be ill fitting and big in size.It has caused the discomfert, and your reaction to the pain has increased the damage. So there is injury to the tissues in the throat and esophagus, causing the swelling of the surrounding tissues, and probably infection.
I advise you to consult a surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
Thank you.
