Had Coloroscopy Under Propathol. Had Reduction In Urine Flow, Painful. Blood Work Done. Diagnosed UTI, Enlarged Prostate

Hi Doctor,

A year ago my PSA was around 3.0, before that one year earlier 2.5. I had a coloroscopy under propathol 7 days ago, and had a significant reduction in urine flow, I would say about 80 to 85 percent afterwards and it was painful to urinate. I also had blood work done about 5 days after the procedure and my internist says I have a UTI and enlarged prostate, that the colonoscopy may be the cause . I never had prostate problems before and now I am on meds, (Tamsulosin HCL and Amoxicillian). Should I be concerned?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Prostatic enlargement is not a known complication of colonoscopy.

The uti would cause your painful urination but this should respond to appropriate antibiotic therapy.

An ultrasound of the prostate would be able to determine if the prostate is actually enlarged or your symptoms are related to the urinary tract infection.

I hope this helps
